lovely with a few issues We enjoyed our visit to Livarot - just to mention - for English speakers- Mme Chaumont was very friendly and tried to be helpful, but it was very difficult with language - also please note that the oven was unusable - it burnt from the accumulation of dirt/grease - the beds were made up with winter quilts and in the heat were unbearable - a big issue when arriving was the lack of euro 1000 in CASH for a breakage cover- a ridiculous sum for anyone to be carrying & this was not stressed - I had assumed it would be a creit card to hold - we were advised the French use a cheque !!! different rules needed for English & others
So, so peaceful A genuine manor house with all the space you would expect for a property of this size. Tucked away in a very quiet and peaceful part of Normandy, it is an ideal location for large groups to stay. Extensive grounds as well.
Noel en famille The house was ideal for the 9 of us - 3 double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for 3 couples, plus 3 young single adults who had their own lounge and 2 doubles/1 single in their own area, sharing the 3rd bathroom. The lounge was cosy with the log fire and the dining area very practical and spacious. We were welcomed by Annie who manages the house and was really helpful if we needed anything. She had decorated the house for Christmas so the ambience was perfect. We really enjoyed our stay. It's a pleasant 25 min walk to the nearest village/commune St Cyr de Ronceray which has a baker, butcher and small grocery store or drive to Lisieux for the supermarket. The only suggestion I would make - and it's a detail - is the house could do with bigger bath towels.
