Notre Perle du Perigord

Excellent ! Un gîte superbe, au calme, très très bien équipé à tous points de vue, en plein cœur du Périgord noir, avec un accueil chaleureux, efficace et disponible: bref, formidable.

A Great Place to Stay Our family has travelled for decades all across the globe. Our style is extended stays at Gites, AirBnBs, VRBOs, and others. We are all in agreement that this property is one of the best, if not the best in which we have stayed. Thomas, our host, was attentive and gracious. It is a newly renovated old stone-built house that has all the amenities. It has the best, well supplied kitchen we have had to date. Its bedrooms are spacious and beds very comfortable (a real must for us). Its pool and Jacuzzi style hot tub are well maintained. It has plenty of outside seating with plenty of room for family dining and get togethers inside and outdoors. It is very well connected to the Internet and phone towers for those who want to stay connected to the outside world in this idyllic country setting. Our recommendation, of course, is to just let the craziness of the modern world slip away for the days you spend in this country setting. It is located in a small village but within easy driving distance to Sarlat (with its old town charm and memorable farmers markets) and countless sights. When you are here, pick up a bottle of walnut liquor (yes, that's right). Enjoy the truffles and duck for which this region is known and justifiably proud. Stop at most any roadside restaurant and enjoy a great meal. If you are inclined, find any of the great fine-dining restaurants in the region and enjoy. We found the Auberge de la Rode while sightseeing in Domme particularly pleasant as a fine dining experience. We found Coin, Coin in Sarlat to be a great stop for tapas style eating. But, really, you are in France! Enjoy the food!
