This vacation property ticks every box you could imagine. We highly recommend it to anyone with a group that just want that south of France luxurious vacation. It’s close to pau and the Pyrenees and house home is beautifully decorated with a stocked spice cupboard and the most comfy beds you’ll ever experience. The views the gardens it’s all there! We booked this wonderful house way back in December 2017; Yvonne, the owner, rang to check that we had the correct year for the booking! Over the months until our departure, we all imagined ourselves sitting around that large table outside overlooking the lake, sipping on a wine and watching the sunset. And we devoured the photos on the website - so many dreams. We were not disappointed;; nine friends from Canberra, Australia had the most wonderful holiday here. Yvonne has not overlooked one thing to make this a HomeAway from home -- from the well-equipped kitchen and butler's pantry, to the oh so comfortable beds and fine linen, to the modern en suite bathrooms, and the little decorative surprises around every corner -- perfect for groups or families. From the time of booking right through to our departure, Yvonne and her property managers, Liz and Ashley, were an absolute pleasure, with all our questions answered promptly. There is plenty of space to unwind and relax, whether as a group or individually, and the gardens just add to the ambience of this gem of a house by the lake. Artix is only a short drive away where we found a very friendly butcher and a delicious patisserie, plus the supermarket stocks everything you could need or want, including some very nice wines. And the Saturday markets at Arthez de Bearn are well worth a visit for a couple of very large, fresh chickens. We loved our holiday in the house by the lake; the memories of this idyll will stay with us forever. Thank you Yvonne, Liz and Ashley.

During a hectic few months travelling around Europe, we met up with some Australian friends at this beautiful chateau. It was a lovely place to enjoy French living, explore the neighbouring areas (Toulouse, Lourdes, the Pyrenees and San Sebastian quite easy day trips) and just relax and unwind and enjoy the amenities of the property itself. The house was well presented and clean; booking and check in was simple and the one time we needed a question answered, the housekeepers were quick to respond and obliging. Would thoroughly recommend this property to groups of friends or large family groups wanting to experience life in the French country.

We stayed at the Lake House as part of a reunion of a large group of friends. The house was ideal given the large number bedrooms (many with en suites) and the extensive facilities. We made good use of the tennis court, swimming pool and giant chess set. Catering for our large group was easy and we made good use of the BBQ and outdoor eating area. Views over the lake were a bonus. The owner, Yvonne, was exceptionally responsive and helpful. Although we were very happy just staying at the house, Yvonne made excellent suggestions for sightseeing and restaurants in the area. Although everything was in order it was comforting to know that the local caretaker Ashley and his wife were close by to assist.

A week at La Chênaie is always the best moment of the year for me . First , because the entire property is absolutely stunning. We know that the owners spent a lot of time and worked extremely hard to get this result. And like it wasn’t enough... every year there is something new!! The appex of my joy was when a discovered the big chess game next to the pool.. Second, It is extremly well looked after. The rooms, the pool, the tennis court and the garden are immaculate. Third, the surroundings... it is very hard to get bored of the french countryside, the food, the people,etc. Last but not least, the view... no need to comment that!! There is not a shadow of a doubt la chenaie is the best cure against stress, routine or boredom. Have fun!! A

Lovely, spacious home with plenty of room for a large group. Tennis court and swimming pool, and outdoor area overlooking the lake— will definitely return!

We stayed at this wonderful House in Doazon, from the first moment we were delighted. The owner, Yvonne, was only to happy to answer any questions and give advice. the whole process was very simple. we were met by Liz and ashley, the house managers whom were friendly and very helpful. The house and property exceeded our expectations, with its comfortable beds, great barbecue area, swimming pool and of course the tennis court. We enjoyed sitting in the various court yards, sitting and chatting. There were quiet places to read from the library provided, board games and videos available. We enjoyed many walks around the lake and visits to local villages for our morning croissants and baguettes. Our whole family had a great holiday and we are already planning our return. Jess B

Massive house with all the amenities you could think of! Lovely pool, tennis court and bbq area. Nicely removed from any hustle and bustle but only 15-20 minutes to major shops and city. Great place for an entire family to spend a holiday together.
