Pet Friendly 1854 Chassors Cognac Gîte

This property is a peaceful shangrila. Our hosts Barbara and Kevin couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. The property is an enclosed peace of paradise. After cognac tasting, going to the local farmers market, kayak races and wandering the lovely village of Jarnac we always looked forward to returning to our gite. The pool is gorgeous, we did a bit of barbecue and to sit in the garden and listen to the birds was such a beautiful way to have a morning coffee or cup of tea. My only regret was that I hadn’t booked it for a longer duration. But, we will be back to rectify that mistake. Many thanks., Deb and Gary. You have created a little bit of magic.

Such a lovely welcome, the gite is beautifully decorated, with all the things you need to relax. Gorgeous pool area as well as fully equipped barbecue area. Thank you so much for having us and looking after us so well. We will definitely return.

Where do you start with this property. It is in a rural setting in an old cognac distillery lots of charm and character. The gite is very spacious and well set out. It is very very clean and has more comforts of life than we have experienced anywhere else. As for the hosts Kevin and Barbara they went out of their way to help with recommendations of places to visit and eat at. Even when a couple of us had medical issues they went out of their way to help us with the language and making bookings at the doctors. Overall we would highly recommend this gite if you are wanting to stay in the cognac area. Once again thank you for the outstanding accommodations that you offer. Let us not forget the lovely pool and hot tub.

We had the most amazing stay at 1854. Barbara and Kevin were the perfect hosts and always on hand if needed. The gite was gorgeous and equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay, they even provide warm pastries to your door every morning. Our 5 year old adored the fantastic pool and the barn area and our 19 month old loved exploring the large courtyard. It's the best gite we have ever stayed in, we would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Chassors was every bit as good as the pictures suggested but even then gave us a few more delightful surprises. It is perfectly placed with Cognac and Jarnac a few minutes away and also the lovely towns of Angouleme and Saintes only 30 minutes. Although why leave when you have a beautiful pool,a gym, bbq area and lovely gardens to enjoy. Barbara and Kevin were fantastic and always available with help and advice on where to visit.

Words and photos can’t do justice to this superb stay! We stayed for 9nights as a family of 2 adults and 4 children with a 3rd adult joining us for 4 nights. There is so much space both inside and out, the gite has everything you could ever require and then some. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Barbara and Kevin went above and beyond as hosts, email communication before we arrived was swift and informative. They are so knowledgeable about the local area and helped us with booking tours. Always around if we needed them but yet it still felt like we had the place to ourselves on the days the second gite was empty. Every morning they left us fresh bread and maybe a wee surprise. A particular favourite for us all was using the original bread oven to make our pizzas one evening! Can’t recommend this place highly enough, so safe and secure for children, so peaceful for adults but with so many things to do on site we barely left! Loved sitting in the hot tub watching the children in the pool! Thanks again Kevin and Barbara, we hopefully will be back again!

We stayed at this wonderful property with our kids aged 2 and 7 for 2 weeks in July. The gite is thoughtfully decorated and fully equipped with everything you might need. The pool is amazing and we spent many happy afternoons cooling off. Barb and Kevin are wonderful hosts, there if something is needed but never intrusive. The photos really don't do this place justice-it is a perfect escape and we cant wait to get back next year.

The property exceeded the expectations created by the online photos and commentary and was everything we could’ve expected and more. Both Barbara and Kevin went out of their way to make our stay truly enjoyable. Couldn’t fault them in any way.
