Pet Friendly Elegant Montignac-Lascaux Gite

We had a fantastic week. The house was perfect for us. Sandrine was very helpful and welcoming.

The house is lovely situated within a hilly countryside near the vezere river. You are almost separated from the busy tourist streams you find somewhere further south in the Périgord.We really loved it therefor - and if you want - you can always get there. The house itself provides you with everything needed for an independent holiday, has a fully equipped kitchen, enough space and leaves nothing to be missed. We really loved the great, covered terasse, which is a nice feature, when it rains. A bit apart from the building is the large and heated (!) pool, which I found even big enough to perform some serious swim training. In terms of sport - the area is one of the best I ever experienced for race cycling. Hilly roads, you're almost alone, it was such a pleasure to ride there. We´d definitely would come back !

The 50 m2 pool is great, the size of the garden is huge - and it is nice and quiet all day long. The cottage is perfectly equipped down to every detail, e.g. dishwasher tabs, and even ice in the fridge. We had some very minor things to remediate (e.g. broken badminton rackets), and it was resolved within less than a day - great host. The fact that the second cottage was just adjacent to ours did not disturb at all. There were no guests, but they also had a completely independent and opposite part of the garden, including pool, BBQ and kids playground. Really a great space for kids. We would much look forward to return soon and explore the Valley of Dordogne and Vezere (the cradle of mankind) further. It was a magnificent stay.

We spent a week and a half here in the early summer. The pool was fantastic, clean and warm, and our baby loved it! If you are coming with a baby/toddler, the pool is fenced off and up a low hill so you do not have to worry about them accessing it without you. There's a lovely semi-shaded area and plenty of deckchairs up there as well The outside table, BBQ and table tennis were all great, and we used them a lot. The whole place was comfortable enough to relax in and linger, but shops, cafes and restaurants only 15mins away in Montignac. We recommend the community shop in Valojoulx too.

A family with 4 children (ages 2, 7, 9, and 11 years old) spent a wonderful week here with plenty to do at the house to spend days not going anywhere and a particularly amazing pool! Sandrine was efficient and lovely, we had fast communication and check in and check out were really easy. The place is excellent. The swimming pool is wonderful, clean, secure with sunny and shady seating, a toilet, and lots of toys and floats. We spent a LOT of time at the pool. It is also a really good size to have a proper swim in. It had everything you needed for a family stay. There is a ping pong table, swings and a slides (these had been moved from the picture online so are now up near the pool rather than down by the house). The house was clean and tidy, a little dusty here and there but everything else was spotless. The beds were comfy and there was plenty of space for our family with 4 children. The other part of the house is also a gite managed by Sandrine with its own swimming pool. One thing to note (particularly as we have a 2 year old) is that the property is not secure from the woods and the road. The garden is huge so they have to go far to get there but it is something to consider. The property is very close to Lascaux and well situated for visiting many places. You need to drive everywhere as there is not a village within walking distance but the house has everything you need to be happy not going out as well. Local supermarket is 10-15 minutes away with a Bio store next door that has a good vegetarian selection of food. Worth doing: - Lascaux caves obviously! - There is a great vegetarian and vegan restaurant worth visiting in Thonac (the carnivorous members of our family also enjoyed it and the pizzas are definitely worth the trip). - Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère is a lovely village along the river for pottering with little shops and just generally beautiful. - Saint-Léon-sur-Vézère canoeing from here was beautiful.

With 4 adults and 4 children under 11 years old, we had everything we needed to have a wonderful holiday. The cottage was well equipped with all amenities for cooking , washing and cleaning. The cottage has great outdoor space , plenty of room for outdoor games and a covered decked area for outdoor meals and relaxing. The swimming pool and surrounding area is excellent . We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and we would use this property again .

There is no question that this house is perfectly located and the owner is very pleasant and accommodating. The pool is wonderful, but the owner really needs to either replace or sand down the decking that surrounds it. There is a notice that tells you “not to run, due to splinters”, but my wife and I both got two splinters each, just walking. The bedrooms are nice, but the upstairs main room needs shutters to help keep it cool. The kitchen is adequate, but has no cupboard space to store dry groceries. There was only the three of us and we struggled, so not really sure how a family of 5 or 6 would cope. There was a small amount of information about the house / local supermarkets etc, but this could do with more detail. This is a nice house, but with a few improvements, it could be a great one!

The location and setting of this property and facilities is excellent, it was so quiet and relaxing. The owners were lovely and accommodating. Would recommend you try for yourselves, we would definitely go back.
