Pet Friendly French Pyrenees / Mediterranean Village Cottage

This is an apartment with a wonderful view of the Canigou from the window. The secluded balcony has the same view and we could sit out in the late afternoon and watch the martins and swallows, and the occasional bird of prey. Everything else is secondary really, but the apartment is spacious, well-equipped and quiet at night. Eus is a most attractive hill village with many old houses and narrow streets. The only slight drawback is the very narrow street at the front which is difficult for parking, and the steep steps up to the apartment. But parking in the wider road close by was always possible. It’s very conveniently placed also to visit local attractions like the superb romanesque monasteries of St Martin-du-Canigou and Serrabone and the fortified village of Villefranche-de-Conflent.

We had a fantastic one-week stay in Eus. The house was very comfortable and well-equipped, making our visit relaxing and enjoyable. Check-in and check-out were smooth. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

We are very satisfied with our stay. The place is nice, well situated and it is is easy to go hiking right from the village. There are plenty of places to visit around. The only minor thing was that we could hear everything people did in the appartement above us. This should be a question of isolation.

Two fantastic weeks in a very nice and well furnished apartment. Eus is a very beautiful village, far from noise but near to trails, places to visit and useful shops. These two weeks have flown fast, we had a great time!

Great time in this lovely little village, perched on the hill across from the Pic du Canigou. Good base for day hikes around the area. Very comfortable apartment with great front porch to enjoy the long summer evenings. We were really able to "unplug" and enjoy lots of reading, relaxing evenings and lovely views.

Last April we stayed for nearly one week in this beautiful apartment in Eus. It's really wonderful and very much recommendable. The apartment is very well furnished. You really find everything you need. It has lots of atmosphere, beautiful paintings on the wall and is well lit. When you need to read there's good light everywhere. You find it next to your bed and everywhere in other places where you need it. The chairs and sofa's are comfortable. When you arrive in cold weather, like when we came, there's heating everywhere. Both from the veranda in front and from the living room there are wide views of the surroundings with the Pyrenees (especially Canigou mountain) and the valley in villages nearby. The patio in the back must also be nice on warm summer evenings. The location is pretty low in Eus, so that you don't have to climb a lot to reach the apartment. There is only a small staircase with a handrail which should not be a problem, if you have walking difficulties. Parking is possible nearby. Usually one street lower, a few minutes walk. But to unload you can park your car below the building for a short while. We found it very clean. There were even fresh flowers on the table and a bottle of local wine. The beds were very comfortable. Eus is a wonderful village. It's not just tourists. Local people are still living here; families with children are among them. There is a cafe and a restaurant on top of the village. Walk up the stairs or park the car on top of the village to get there. There is a Super U for all your shopping in Prades, about 10 minutes by car. More shops and restaurants to be found here. Eus is a good location for visiting the Cathar countryside, coast near Perpignan, Andorra and nothern Catalonia/ Spain. The owner Stewart can be contacted if you need him, although he doesn't live here. For the rest there is a local caretaker. The only little thing of improvement is that the local caretaker could be slow in responding, but she told she will improve this. So it's really a 5 star accommodation which you will definitely enjoy a lot! We have sweet memories of it and would like to return once we have new plans for the Pyrenees.
