Quai 198, grande maison au port de plaisance

😊: I definitely need to start with saying what a lovely holiday we had. St Valery sur Somme is a gorgeous town, with lovely things to do and friendly, nice people. The house is in a great spot and is generally really good for a family stay. Lots of bath rooms, a good amount of space, and a really sweet little courtyard garden. It looks like it has been recently renovated mostly (I think the downstairs flooring and the stair carpet are probably next, but this wasn’t a problem at all). There were a couple of issues with broken bathroom/toilet door handles which need addressing especially as they are at face height for children, but presumably these will be sorted soon as it is a 5 minute job! The house is comfortable – if you had a house full you may struggle to all sit in the sitting room but you could sit at the dining table in the nice kitchen over looking the garden and so it’s not really a problem, and there is room for relaxing in the sitting room. As mentioned, there are lots of toilets / shower /bathrooms, which was great. We had lots of fun and loved walking into town and going on trips. The train is brilliant and there is loads to do locally. We have not given the hosts a particularly good rating, but up until the end they were really helpful and answered questions very quickly which was great, it was the messages after we left that lowered this.. 😢: There were a couple of issues : Crockery / oven trays weren’t particularly clean when we arrived, but this just needs the cleaning staff to check better. There is no instruction folder/book in the house and no wifi details (the password is available in a link but that is not helpful when you have no internet as there was no signal) so we had to walk into town to get phone signal to ask for the wifi details – again, easily resolved and not a problem. Rubbish was an issue - we put the rubbish out when we saw other people in the street putting rubbish out, but because we didn’t have instructions in the house and we didn’t get the leaving email until the evening of the day before we left, we could not get rid of some of our rubbish as we couldn’t fit it into the car in the morning. This caused some sadness with the management team. We were also told in a very cross message that we had used and thrown away the owner’s linen. We hadn’t. This wasn’t mentioned again after saying they were checking -hopefully the management team now realise that we had taken and used our own as requested. We were told we had broken things. I am confident that we didn't and had checked all of the rooms before leaving. When we requested pictures, we were told that there would be no more discussion but that the fantastic staff had sorted it all out. I wish we had taken pictures when we left so that when we were told we had left it in an awful state I could have sent them over showing that this simply wasn’t the case, it did slightly spoil what was a fabulous holiday A folder of information including the wifi pass code, a map showing exactly where free parking is and where rubbish can be dropped off and any other relevant information would have made for a smoother start and end to a lovely break in St. Valery..
