Soleil (2 Bedrooms - sleeps 4/5)

We received a wonderful welcome from Vanessa and Paul, along with a Bottle of wine which set the mood for the week. The Gite was excellent, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, everything we could have hoped for and more. The fan was a lovely thought in the bedroom. We had lovely meals locally in Vouvant village at Auberge de Pannettier, Moules and frites recommended, a really good choice and very reasonable. We went to several lovely places close to, Mervant Forest, Coulon, very pretty and lots to do. Good Super U at Chatagnie about 10 minutes away and a good boulangerie in Vouvant. Again a super holiday.

Despite the good consideration of the owners, I have to say that this accommodation is too expensive, noisy and dark. Noisy because a busy road is next to the location and we can hear the sound of the cars all day and night. Then, the rooms are dark, due to trees and small windows. The house is next to the owner house and their big car was parked in front of it. Which makes it not very attractive. Then expensive because the price is too high if we compare with the other locations in the area. This is for the bad points. Regarding the good stories to tell. The garden is huge and clean (but not next to this accommodation, but I know there are several). The swimming pool is huge and of course, there are plenty of things to do around this place. The Owners are friendly, they were by the way very uncomfortable because I was disappointed about the noise. they proposed another accommodation but smaller and the noise was the same. The living rooms and rooms are cold. this is a very good point because the temperature was above 30° we came. Hope this comment helps.

The gite exceeded our expectations, it was well equipped, tidy, clean and very spacious for 2 adults with 2 younger children. The grounds are lovely, the pool wonderful, and the chickens a great additional surprise for 2 excited young children. A very peaceful location and ideally suited for many great days out, to the local zoo, nearby lake with beach, 5 minutes from a wonderful local village with boulangerie, cafes, restaurant, sites to see,10 minutes from larger supermarket, 15 minutes from a larger town with many cafes restaurants, churches, local forest with amazing children's park. There are many, many villages around and the whole area is unspoiled by commercialism. Truly a great place to be and the owners with their family live on site, speak English and are absolutely lovely.
