Studio indépendant avec jardin

😊: This is a house with an attached, locked-off studio. It is an old place which has not been renovated but has been cleaned up and simplified. The ambiance is 'form over function', that is, very pretty but nothing works well, and because it is not modernized, many facilities are basic rather than comfortable. The studio is large and has a lovely garden as promised. It suits 3 persons. There is no kitchen, just a hotplate and mini-fridge and microwave. A locked door separates them. The house itself has 3 bedrooms, all upstairs via a circular staircase, with toilets on both levels, and again, a lovely garden. The kitchen has been modernized with all new SMEG appliances, and adequate gear for cooking. It is all pretty with nice touches, but again, function has been sacrificed to the look. The location, once you learn Tours, is very good. One does have to search for services though, as even a boulangerie is too far to walk; one needs a car for this residential neighbourhood.. 😢: Many things were broken in both units. We reported them all, but I have no idea if they were fixed.The studio is absolutely unsuitable if you plan to cook or remain more than a night or two. It was not a comfortable space; the only eating area is actually outside in the garden. All the furniture is light and unstable, and the bed is a simple metal frame with a 4" mattress with no springs. I was unable to sleep on it. The hotplate is induction, so if you don't know how to use that, you are stuck with only microwave. Only paper plates and cups were provided, plus things for coffee and drinks/snacks; I finally went to a sale and purchased small plates and a good cutting knife to supplement. We stayed in the unit only 2 nights before moving to the big unit instead. In the bigger unit, the house, most needs were met, except good knives, salad bowls and jugs for water or tea. There was no teapot or coffeepot, just a capsule coffeemaker. The silverware was flimsy, and the glassware an odd collection. Again, I supplemented these as a gift to the owners. Again, the induction stove was a bit of a mystery. The same problem existed with all 3 beds, so I slept on a couch (which had springs) for my whole 10 days there. As an older person with some flexibility and mobility restrictions, I was not safe in this property. There were too many flaws; rugs, uneven floors and dangerous staircases with no lights. The sheets did not fit the mattresses, so came off every night. I recommend that the owners invest a little money in better mattresses and good quality bedding, and remove some of the pretty touches (vases with fake flowers, rag rugs, etc) and look for useful, more durable items that would supplement comfort yet still be attractive. I found almost all I needed for under 10Euros (in TOTAL) at a vide-grenier locally, so it need not be costly..
