The Maiden's

😊: been in contact with the owner. 😢: Upon arriving at the property on the day of check-in, I was informed that the previous guest had locked the key inside the property, meaning we could not stay there. The owner was also travelling and claimed they were unable to provide a spare key, so we had no choice but to urgently book another hotel. e owner said was true, then perhaps I cannot blame him too harshly. However, Booking.com’s handling of the matter afterwards was appalling. The owner agreed on the day to provide a full refund and informed Booking.com accordingly. What followed was several weeks of pointless back-and-forth with Booking.com, who kept insisting that they were awaiting a response from the owner. As the matter was going nowhere, I raised a claim through my card provider and initially received a refund. However, around a month later, Booking.com defended the disputevia the card company, claiming it was a “no show” and that no cancellation request had been made. The dispute is still ongoing. The owner also mentioned that a similar incident had happened before and that it took three months for the refund to be processed..
