The Restoration Place Pyrenees Hikers Retreat

Tom's place was a truly wonderful experience. His conversion of this little barn has created a spacious and thoughtfully converted interior. The kitchen area is well-equipped, the sofa welcoming and the underfloor heating a bonus on cooler days. The bedroom is comfortable and roomy, the bathroom with a walk-in shower completing the picture. And all this looks out over a view of the Pyrenees that had us captivated. We spent hours watching the sun come up, the clouds passing and the red kites circling overhead and even had the delight of seeing the first snow of the season settling on highest peaks. The ancient town of Foix was but a short drive away and we loved taking the higher more scenic route which provided sweeping views of the valley floor and the mountainscape behind. Tom was a generous and responsive host, checking we had everything we needed and patiently answering our questions. We simply could not love this place more and are planning our next visit.

If your idea of a perfect gite is to sit on a verandah with an amazing view of the mountains and a glass of wine, and to let the evening close in around you, then this is the place for you. The Restoration Place had an excellent kitchen and dining area, a super-comfy bed and - oh what bliss - a rain shower. It was also spotlessly clean. I honestly would recommend this place to anyone who was looking for an unforgettable holiday.

Exquisite cottage with great patio for enjoying stunning views of Montsegur and the Pyrenees. Located in a pastoral setting, the cottage is thoughtfully designed, well finished, and comfortably furnished. It was equipped with everything we needed. Restaurants, bakeries, and provisions, including specialty bio markets and farm markets, are available in nearby Foix and Lavelanet. A short walk up the hill you'll find Roquefixade village, which offers an exceptional network of hiking trails to the Roquefixade Chateau ruins, ancient Dolmens, and overlooks with 360 degree views of the region. A short drive away, you'll find Foix, Montsegur, the Niaux cave, the Cascade de Roquefort, and many more attractions. There is an incredible concentration of breathtaking scenery and history here. The cottage was ideal for us, and the host was gracious and welcoming. Thank you, Tom for your hospitality!

Very nice property: clean, new, very well decorated. Everything was as described. The terrasse with the amazing view is the best place to relax after a day of hiking. Great hikes to do at your doorstep. Tom is a very nice host, responsive yet discreet. Dog lovers will happy to pet the gentle Manu :)
