The SENTINEL Duplex apartment in the ramparts

So close to the village; parking was great; excellent instructions

We loved everything about this apartment. The steps were a bit challenging but manageable and everything else was fabulous. We had a magical few days in Riquewihr and coming home to the apartment was the highlight.

We stayed in this apartment during our holidays in Alsace and overall we really enjoyed it. The location was excellent and we appreciated the fact that it was a traditional building, which gave it a lot of charm. The room was spacious and nicely furnished, making our stay very comfortable. The holiday itself was fantastic. The only downsides we found were the cleanliness, as there was some dust, and the lack of private and free parking.

The experience starts with climbing ancient stairs belonging to the original remparts. Then the door opens to a spacious apartment, restfully appointed with comfortable fabrics and antiques, original art. The kitchen is fully appointed for preparing one’s meals. And the bed is comfortable !!! Truly, a complete package.

Spent 4 nights in this charming apartment. Riquwihr was busy during the day, but it was lovely to stay so close to the centre and enjoy the town after the day trippers had gone. Accommodation was comfortable and equipped with all we needed.

Most of the hotels I was looking at were all modern with no historical architectural interest, but this place had all the historical architectural interest I was craving, yet had all the amenities needed to make the stay exceptionally comfortable, including a washer/dryer, and many small thoughtful touches like a bath mat (you may think it odd for me to point this out, but I really appreciated ...<br>#128577; Since the apartment is built into the ramparts of the town, the stairs leading into the entry to the apartment are historic and are very steep and narrow. There is a very sturdy railing helping you for the first ¾ of the climb, but near the top, the sturdy railing stops and there is a rope railing instead. I would love to see something studier added to make that last section of your climb up the steps a little less harrowing. Probably not an issue for younger guests, but my balance ...

My husband and I found The Sentinel to be a very disappointing experience. The apartment is lovely to look at, but unfortunately we found the bed to be miserably soft and uncomfortable. While the furniture looks nice, it is worn and uncomfortable as well. The apartment is adequately equipped and has many extra touches; it is a shame that the furniture does not match the rest of the apartment's charm. Unfortunately our stay was plagued by constant rain making it even more frustrating not to be able to come home and be comfortable. The apartment was very clean. The Sentinel is on the second floor with very steep and narrow steps. Requewihr is a lovely town and the Alsace region is beautiful. The town of Requewihr is a good place from which to explore the area.

The Alsace region, the town of Riquewihr, the Sentinel apartment, and Jean-Paul and Martine provided us with an outstanding vacation experience - one that has stolen our hearts! The Sentinel apartment is as charming in person as it is online. It’s lovely, well maintained, well equipped with everything you need, and warm and inviting - the perfect home away from home. Jean-Paul and Martine provided brochures and other information about the region which was extremely helpful in planning and getting the most out of our vacation days. With its location between the Vosges mountains and the vineyards, Riquewihr’s ambience is positively enchanting. The wines produced in the region are superb and the food is spectacular. We loved every restaurant we visited in Riquewihr. We would especially recommend Le Sarment d’Or for the food and experience and the outstanding wines of Maison Zimmer (Au Tire Bouchon Winstub). Plan on spending a substantial amount of time exploring Riquewihr and all it has to offer (like the open market on Friday!) and also venture out to Colmar, Ribeauville, and Strasbourg, as well as just about any other nearby town or city - each is unique, beautiful and rewarding. If you get the chance, meet the artist Christian Schwob, who created the artwork in the Sentinel, and perhaps purchase one of his pieces to memorialize your vacation.
