😊: The family were nice the son who translated was nice and the dog was lovely.. 😢: It was a "garage" next to the main house, inside there was nothing breaking the space up except for a few planks of wood, the bathroom was visible and open to the rest of the room giving no privacy. It was incredibly cold, we were shown a heater but told it was summer so wouldn't be needed and weren't shown how to use it, a small bed with no duvet, one chair for comfy seating only to look out on what we thought was a private pool however was in the owners garden only broken by a sheet of sorts, never felt private or like we could relax, check In was at 5:30, incredibly late and then check out at 8:30, possibly the most ridiculous times. We can see the owners are trying however it just doesn't work..

Fabuleux

The property was lovely, very clean and tidy. The owners were friendly (as was their dog). Very enjoyable stay. The local town was very quaint, overall an enjoyable experience.

The villa was extremely clean and well furnished in an attractive, minimalist way. Two walls were primarily glass, so there was a good view to the pool - and as it was very hot when we arrived Ingrid provided an electric fan, which was very welcome. We couldnt find the villa initially and rang John-Jacques but had no reply. Fortunately we made another attempt and found it and Ingrid was there to greet us. She was welcoming, pleasant and helpful if we needed to check anything out about appliances etc. . She showed us the property, including how the induction hob worked (we were rather slow and had to seek her help with this later!). It was lovely to see the bottle of wine which greeted us - a lovely touch. We were, though, rather surprised to be shown an extremely detailed inventory (right down to the hooks on the wall and items we couldnt identify), which I think we were supposed to sign and which felt very daunting. Ingrid tried to reassure us that this was normal (though had never been our experience in other self-catering villas) and that it wasnt meant to worry us). The bed was very comfortable and the shower very efficient. I enjoyed having the pool for our private use and being able to sit outside in the comfortable chairs beside it .The villa was so open plan that there were only wooden slats (with gaps between the slats) around the loo and shower area which was a surprise! I asked to borrow an iron - as wed been travelling - but this wasnt available: Ingrid did offer to iron anything but I didnt want her to have to do that. I should have read the info more carefully before we arrived, as I would have brought a travel kettle and a couple of mugs, as, good as the coffee machine was, there were times when we wanted a mug of instant coffee or a cup of tea. Ingrid did explain when we mentioned this at the end of our stay that the bowls could be used for this. There was a microwave and 2 induction hobs - but I forgot there was no grill/oven when I bought a pie to heat up one evening! The villa is in a small hamlet not far from Chablis, which is a really lovely market town, and Ingrid told us there was a market on Sundays, so we combined a visit to the market, coffee in a lovely local bar and mass at the towns church on our first morning! We really loved the local area and visited some really super towns as well as doing a wine tour, and the villa was a good base for these.
