Basque House Txantxangorri 6pers near Biarritz

We came for a long stay of four weeks as we looked for a property to buy in the surrounding area. We weren’t successful in that respect after looking at 18 places, but we sure enjoyed staying in Christine’s three-year old house. In fact, it probably made our expectations too high as we looked at houses that were 10-100 years older and had all kinds of issues. Everything in this house is brand new, with all the latest window hardware and the best fixtures in the kitchen and bathrooms. The underfloor heating is really lovely. Sitting on the deck in the evening with a cocktail looking out over the countryside only made us want to live here more. Briscous, although small, is really close to an autoroute exit, has a terrific bakery two minutes away at the bottom of the hill (they also make pizzas, of which we enjoyed on a few Saturday nights.) AND, right next door to the bakery is the French restaurant Joanto (1 Michelin Bib) that is just fabulous, and reasonably priced. Walking to a great restaurant is always a plus. There’s a little grocery store in town, and a pharmacy, and a tabac – for newspapers, etc. We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay. This is probably our 10th rental house in France over the last 25-30 years, and it is by far the best ever! Thank you Christine!
