Cathar chateau and commanderie of Malta near Mirepoix, Carcassonne and Toulouse

We have had the best time of our lives this week, celebrating our wedding with our friends and family. The chateau surpassed all of our expectations and we feel very lucky to have been able to stay here. No one wanted to leave and we are talking about having a reunion next year. Magical memories created for life. We will most definitely be back. Thank you so much Rebecca for your help and wonderful hospitality.

Devenir châtelains durant des vacances, dans un lieu d'exception, c'est possible ! La Commanderie nous a réservé un séjour d'exception dans un lieu plein de charme. La décoration raffinée respecte l'esprit d'époque du château tout en offrant un confort excellent, que ce soit au niveau des chambres, des salles de bain ou de la cuisine parfaitement équipée pour un grand groupe. Les conseils de Rebecca et ses adresses de producteurs locaux (vins, canard ..) nous ont de surcroît permis de découvrir les qualités de la région. Ces superbes vacances, dans une atmosphère très particulière, d'un autre temps, nous ont donné un gout de "revenez-y" ! Un groupe d'amis reconnaissants

Excellentes prestations et conseils avertis donnés par la propriétaire. Nous avons apprécié sa préoccupation permanente de satisfaire ses hôtes et sa longue liste de fournisseurs et activités alentours. Accueil chaleureux. Rébecca Gregory nous a confié les clés de sa demeure sans appréhension, même si un groupe d'amis de 22 personnes avec des enfants entre 5 et 17 ans peut inquiéter au premier abord. Très riche région autant au niveau historique que touristique, mais il est également possible de séjourner à la Commanderie uniquement pour profiter du site.Nous gardons donc cette bonne adresse que nous recommandons pour un dépaysement total et une autre vie!

We stayed at La Commanderie to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was like a fairytale, surrounded by history and luxury. The park with its swimming pool and the sculptures is a fabulous setting for relaxation. Rebecca was a perfect host with plenty of local knowledge and advice for days out. We are looking forward for our next big occasion to be able to return!

We couldn't have found a more idyllic venue for our wedding. The chateau itself is beautifully decorated, and Rebecca gave us great recommendations for local vendors. In the week leading up to the wedding, we spent a lot of time by the pool and playing Boules on the terrace. The evenings were a little bit cooler, so it gave us the perfect opportunity to have our dinners by the fire. There is also a lot to do in the area- from the prehistoric cave paintings to biking and hiking in the Pyrenees. We even came across a band competition in Mirepoix, where they were playing everything from White Stripes to songs from Pulp Fiction. We have stayed in a number of vacation rentals in the South of France, but this one was by far our favorite. There has already been discussion about returning to celebrate our anniversary.

Nous avons passé un magnifique week end de mariage au Chateau la Commanderie. Nous aurions bien aimé y rester plus longtemps! Le chateau est magnifique et très pratique (il y a vraiment tout ce qu'il faut pour y sejourner en famille ou entre ami). Il se situe dans une très belle région. Le jardin est aussi très très très beau.

"Be careful, you may get what you wish for." Life is full of cruel and unjustified surprises. Anyone who's lived will tell you that. Except in this case. I recently wrote a book that was translated into French. Great reviews. (If I do say so myself) I don't bring this up to toot my own horn. My publisher, as a result, decided to host a week- long celebration for me and potential book sellers. They chose Chateau la Commanderie and it was MORE than I could have wished of. The chateau is right out of novels far greater than mine, (replete with 13th century staircases and hidden rooms) Anything we needed was supplied in a moment's notice. The grounds are lush and beautiful. I was there to celebrate my book but wound up celebrating my surroundings. You'd have to be crazy not to adore this place. I know I'm gushing and going on and on, but it was truly a magical experience. The owner, Rebecca Gregory, was a delight as well. In short, I'd sit down and write another book just to go back to the chateau. And believe me, that's saying a lot.

Incredible Chateau in an amazing location! We came here on a work team retreat (10 of us) and i couldn't recommend it highly enough. Rebecca was brilliant we felt right at home. Top tip - Get a local chef to come in a whip you up something delicious in the kitchen.
