Gîte by the river in the Dordogne - La Gloriette

Another visit to this wonderful place situated next to the River Drone. Good comms with the host and a lovely traditional Gite with all the necessary things you need!! We brought our bikes and the area is perfect if you love this activity. Also very good if you like a dip in the river. Well recommended.

Friendly and welcoming hosts at this incredible and unique mill. The area is quite, private, and beautiful. The rooms are clean, stylish and comfortable, and the outdoor area is a special place to relax, including swimming and canoeing in the river! What a wonderful place to stay.

Beautiful converted water mill. High quality fixtures and fittings with lovely decor. The wonderful garden is full of flowers and wildlife, including chickens, ducks and a lovable but occasionally noisy cockerel! You can choose from the sunny jetty on the river or pick a shady spot under the trees. The host and her son were friendly, welcoming and very helpful, leading us to the best fishing spots and providing local insights. Nothing was too much trouble! Location was great with a fabulous choice of restaurants and boulageries for the morning bread and croissants in town . We would thoroughly recommend this property and will certainly be returning.

Natalie was very welcoming and her English is excellent which helps. The cottage was very comfortable and has everything you need. We stayed in the one with a tiled covered gazebo which was great when it was raining because you could still sit outside. We stayed 4 nights which I think was just right. Plenty of places to visit within an hour and Natalie was always on hand with advise. Only slight negative is it is not walking distance of the town of Riberac but we knew that before we booked. Overall a very relaxing stay which was perfect.

We spent a week here in early September. It's a gorgeous restored house on the river Dronne. It's simple but stylish, comfortable and clean. The owner lives on-site and is charming and helpful. Get past the feisty geese for a gentle paddle on the river in the canoes which are available for you to use at any time, before a glass of local wine on your own little terrace. Perfect for a quiet, relaxing break in a beautiful location.

Welcomed by Nathalie and Thierry who were very helpful. We had a very enjoyable stay in spacious comfortable accommodation. We arrrived in a heatwave. It poured with rain the next day and the remainder of the week was overcast but pleasantly warm. The little private terrace provided a place to enjoy eating, reading and admiring the view of the river. The quality bed was perfect for my bad back. Sofa was also comfortable. Kitchen equipped sufficiently for us to prepare our own meals. Unfortunately the weather did not entice me into the river for swimming but we did take a canoe (provided for our use) for a paddle up the river. The two pet geese provided entertainment. Riberac was handy for supplies from the supermarket and the Friday market. There is a little boulangerie a couple of minutes drive in the opposite direction. A very relaxing week with the potential to play on the river.

We had a really relaxing week with Nathalie and Thierry, making the most of the good weather and lovely Dronne River. Having 2 canoes at our disposal was a real bonus and something we availed of on more than one occasion. We could recommend this property without hesitation.
