La Métairie près de Bordeaux

What a lovely stay we had at Le Metairie! The host Patrick met us on arrival and provided some lovely welcome gifts, including a delicious cake from a local artisan bakery. The accommodation was very clean, the kitchen was well equipped and everything we could want to enjoy our fortnight's holiday was provided. Our family especially enjoyed swimming in the pool and playing table tennis and then relaxing in the large sitting room in the evenings. Patrick's Information Folder gave us lots of tips on where to eat and what to visit and we enjoyed learning about winemaking - and sampling some excellent wine - at one of his recommended places. We had a lovely evening meal at Le Cabine and also at the Garden Restaurant in Creon as well as lunch at Auberge D'Haux. It was a perfect house and location for our family holiday - and we were even treated on our last day to a deer visiting the garden! Thank you Patrick!

En Bordeaux is een interessante en mooie stad. Vanaf parking relais Villenave Pyr. bereik je met de tram goedkoop (3,5€/7pers max in auto, H/T) het centrum. De gastheer is vriendelijk en discreet.

Extremely well equipped to a high standard. We were welcomed with essential groceries, a bottle of wine and a speciality dessert of the region. Patrick was available if we needed him and managed the pool/cover. He was private and discreet. We have stayed in gites many times and this was one of the best with a great pool.

We stayed for 2 weeks this year and also 2 weeks last year and both visits were absolutely perfect. Last year was during a 40C heatwave and the house was cool throughout which was much appreciated! This year we visited in May/June and temperatures were much kinder (25-30C) but swimming was still fine as the pool is still at 27C and kept very clean by Patrick. Your host (Patrick) is perfection - he is very polite and kind and has a good sense of humour but he leaves you completely alone and you will only see him if he is cleaning the pool or if you need his help with anything. Another perfect stay in a stunning area, thank you so much Patrick.

What a beautiful setting. The property is stunning with vineyards in the distance, magnificent trees and the flowers will be beautiful. Inside the accommodations were trés bon! Love the arches, very spacious, clean and well maintained. Lots of hot water and great pressure to shower. Would stay here again.

This is a perfect property with a perfect (and extremely kind) owner, Patrick. The house is a beautiful old farmhouse with lovely rooms and a great mix of classical features and contemporary feel everywhere. You will lack nothing, Patrick has provided everything and to a very high standard. We stayed here during the 2022 June/July heatwave where the temperature sat at around 35-37C for nearly 2 weeks and we never felt the heat inside the house (the lounge is especially cool due to the situation of the house and the thickness of its walls) and the shaded outside areas were so helpful. On top of that, you have the pool for cooling off. The owner, Patrick, is a very genial, kind man and I believe from chatting to him that the whole building is his family home. Patrick lives at one end of the building but you will never know he is there as the building is totally sound-proofed and Patrick is incredibly discrete. He is available if you need help but otherwise you will not see him! We are quite private people and we felt totally secure and private throughout the stay. The exterior and garden areas are full of old trees which provide shade on a hot day as well as multiple lovely seating areas, a BBQ, a sturdy hammock and grass to walk and play on. The swimming pool is the nicest we have ever been lucky to use in France in 10 years of visiting. It is below-ground which means it is warmer than other types of pool, typically 27C temp in June, early-July when we were there. Half of the pool is shallow but it gradually slopes down to a deeper area for those that want it. For little ones, there are 3 shallow steps at the shallow end of the pool to sit with them. It could not be more perfect and Patrick manages to keep it very clean without you even noticing! This part of France is magical. It is an area very rich in wine and food and weather is noticeably warmer than the north of France. There are dozens of restaurants in easy driving distance, pretty villages and towns all around and Bordeaux is a vibrant, fun city to visit (which we did on multiple occasions). We will certainly be returning next year without question and are already looking forward to it!

La Metarie is the best HomeAway house we have stayed in, and we have stayed in quite a few in different parts of the world. It is extremely well appointed with absolutely everything anyone would need. It is spacious, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. The two bathrooms make for comfort and ease for a family (we were three adults) It was too cold to use the pool but we sat under the tree and enjoyed the sunset hour round the table, looking out over the hills and woods-beautiful!
