Maison d'Anjou 5 - Raffinement - Confort - Tranquillité.

We were delighted with our stay at this property. We were a party of seven being three generations of a family. The house has four beautiful spacious bedrooms with ensuites. The kitchen is wonderfully kitted out and all of the other rooms are superbly furnished. The gardens are beautiful and pool great. Would highly recommend.

We loved staying in Xavier's gorgeous house about 15 minutes outside of Saumur. The house is beautifully and tastefully renovated still capturing the ancient spirit of houses in the neighborhood. Xavier was very communicative and we had a very smooth entry. All the directions for the house are clearly spelled out in both French and English. But it was all fairly self-explanatory. The kitchen was extremely well stocked, and featured a chef's gas stove. We ended up cooking in 3 of 4 nights, taking advantage of the great local products that the boucheries, fromageries, and organic vegetable stores had to offer. The bedrooms were all relatively large and very comfortable. The two 2nd floor bathrooms have both baths and a large stand up shower. The upstairs two bedrooms have the more traditional, large tub with shower handle. The property itself was beautiful. We lamented that it was winter that we couldn't take advantage of the swimming pool. That said, we loved having dinner by the fire in the well-appointed dining room. We also took advantage of the e-bikes to take a long ride along the Loire River and then up in the hills. Can't wait to come back to this beautiful house! We had a fantastic week at Maison d’Anjou. We have been to very many gites in France and this property is exceptional. The house, the garden and pool are all more spacious than implied by the photographs online. Eight people can be accommodated in true luxury. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and enabled indoor and outdoor dining for all of us with ease, making use of the garden produce tended with care by Alain. Each bedroom is en-suite, enormous and furnished to a very high standard. This stay was 5-star in every respect and we would not hesitate to return. Merci Xavier

I really cannot praise this property enough! It's been said many times before on other reviews, but the photos really do not do it justice! It is absolutely stunning in every way possible! Huge rooms, exquisite decor, fresh fruit and veg to enjoy from the beautiful garden, large and spotless pool, peaceful location. Xavier couldn't do enough to help us - discreet yet immediately responsive. My only complaint is that we didn't book for longer...one week was not enough to enjoy this wonderful, magical property. We will be back!

Incredible, tranquil retreat for friends and family on the Loire. The love, design and thoughtful detail Audrey and Xavier poured into this home capture and embrace you from the moment you arrive. They should write a book on their journey to create the warm design throughout that marries classic countryside with modern functional needs. Easily accommodates four adult couples. Perfect kitchen and indoor and outdoor dining areas for creating fabulous dinners. 30 second walk across the street to stroll, run or bike the river. Fantastic base for wine touring in the Saumur area and for nearby Chateaux viewing. Relax and enjoy.

This is a beautiful home. The attention to detail is excellent. All the rooms are very spacious and the bedrooms feel really luxurious. There is a lot of outside space and the pool is large enough to enjoy a good swim. Xavier is an excellent and responsive host. Highly recommended and would love to return one day.

We were a group of 7 friends that enjoy travel to Europe. We prefer to self-cater so that we can cook, enjoy markets, etc. This house was very spacious and gave everyone plenty of room for reading, hanging outside, enjoying the pool and relaxing. Xavier has done a wonderful job restoring this property. The color palette of the home is gorgeous and its rustic charm is cleverly accentuated with elegant touches in the lighting and the artwork. The home has lots of natural light as well. We enjoy cooking and found the kitchen fairly well stocked. If I have to find one request, it would be for better chef's knives, but we made do just fine. When we arrived we found full bottles of olive oil, vinegars, charcoal, several spices, toilet paper and starters. So nice to not have to run out immediately to purchase these items. We replaced everything we used, plus some. Really thoughtful of the owner to have started us with some basics. The bedrooms are all very spacious and I did not realize that the floorplan encompasses 3 floors. As other reviews have said, the photos are representative, but don't cover everything that there is in this house. The pool and grounds are lovely. The pool is much larger than we expected and there were pool towels and cushions in the pool house. House is surrounded by a garden/fence and is gated. The area is extremely quiet and very close to make the bakery run in the morning or get to some larger supermarkets nearby. We enjoyed several restaurants and caves in the area. All-in-all, a super holiday! We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the grounds. I do hope that we return to the area in the near future and would happily stay in this property again.
