Maison du Phare (en service) : charme , authenticité et vue exceptionnelle

Great place in great location on a hill overlooking the harbour and as a working lighthouse it is quite quirky. Very well located to visit a number of WW2 beaches, batttlefields and memorials which is why we were there. Also a short distance from the medieval town of Bayeux. Port en Bessin itself quite small but some very good restaurants and a couple of bars. As we were there early in the season some of the restaurants were closed but enough for us to try a different restaurant on all four nights we were there. We were a party of 4 male adults and found the house very comfortable. Would definitely recommend Maison du Phare.

We had a wonderful time at Maison du Phare. We were a group of 9 friends and family, with children, teens and adults staying for 2.5 weeks. The bedroom, kitchen, dining room, living room all worked well for a group of that size. The common areas had a lot of natural light which we loved. The kitchen was well-equipped (cups, plates, tableware, pots and pans) and we were provided with ample towels and linens, We loved the location of the house. Port-en-Bessin is the perfect location for DDay beaches visits. The house is just a short downhill walk (5 minutes) from the port in town which is lined with shops and restaurants. The walk back up will be difficult for people with mobility issues but otherwise just requires a bit of effort.One note for those staying - Contrary to the listing, there is no air-conditioning in the house. It was not needed while we were there - the temps were actually quite cool and opening the windows let a nice breeze through, but it is something to be aware of if you are concerned about heat.

We had the most amazing stay at David's lovely home! We were a family group of 8, including my 85 year-old mother. The house was so special. Impeccably clean, a gorgeous location and the lighthouse made it even more spectacular. There was a large bedroom downstairs which was perfect for my mom and the rest of us had plenty of bedroom space on the upper floors. The sitting room attached to the working light was a favorite spot for reading and game playing. We witnessed a stunning sunrise on our last morning - it was a great send off. The little town has some great shops and restaurants and was a quick walk down a steep hill. Perfect location for visiting WWII sites (including the bunker right across the street). David was a gracious, helpful host, very accommodating and easy to communicate with. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!

Beds were super comfortable and house was very clean. Great base for our WW2 sightseeing. Host was very responsive and easy to work with. The hill is steep as others have mentioned, so getting in and out was a bit tricky for us. This would not prevent me from staying there again.

Bonne situation, vue exceptionnelle. Bien équipé et literie super confortable ! petit bémol de notre séjour, chauffe eau en fin de vie.

Nous avons découvert la Normandie ainsi que Port en Bessin Huppain que nous ne connaissions pas du tout. Nous avons été enchanté par le lieu et ses habitants. Port en Bessin est près de tout. Nous avons pu visiter Omaha Beach, Bayeux, Arromanches etc à plus ou moins 20 minutes de là. A visiter aussi la : la ferme de la sapinière : visite commentée intéressante et dégustation au top ! Nous sommes revenus avec un stock de pommeau, jus de pomme, calva etc :-) Le logement est conforme à l'annonce. Il est agréable, confortable et insolite. Il faut s'habituer à la petite côte qui permet d'atteindre le phare, côte à 18% mais rien ne vous empêche de prendre la voiture si c'est trop compliqué. Les emplacements de parking supplémentaires dans le terrain face au phare sont précieux car les voitures basses ont difficiles à entrer sur le parking autour du phare. La literie est très confortable. Nous avons pu profiter d'un petit apéro en sortant la table et les chaises de jardin sur le terrain en face ce qui nous a permis de profiter de la magnifique vue sur l'entrée du port. Le logement est bien équipé. Nous avons passé une belle semaine en famille (8 adultes)

Une maison-phare très agréable et très confortable à vraiment 5mn à pied du port et de son marché aux poissons. Un excellent accueil par le propriétaire et une grande souplesse pour la procédure de départ. Port-en-Bessin est un port très agréable avec de nombreuses boutiques et de nombreux restaurants. Tout était réuni pour une excellente semaine de vacances... y compris le beau temps !

Meine Familie und ich hatten wunderbare Tage im Haus von Fam. Bloche. So begeistert bin ich dass ich gerne zurück kehren möchte! Die Anzeige stimmte mit der wahren Situation voll überein. Wer schlecht zu Fuss ist könnte eine schwierige Zeit haben, den 18% Steigung zu schaffen, die zwischen Port en Bessin und das Haus liegt.
