We had a wonderful stay …. It is quirky, comfortable, rural aspect, great hot tub, good selection of garden chairs and tables, shady and sunny spots and quiet. Short drive to nearest supermarket and lots of local beautiful old villages and towns to visit. We loved our stay. Serge was so kind friendly.

Perfect base for exploring a beautiful area of France.

We have just returned from a two week vacation at this totally charming residence. We wanted an away from it all, but within a short driving distance from local amenities, and this didn't disappoint. The pigeonnair was all we could have hoped for and more. We had all the comforts of home, with the added benefit of glorious weather, and beautiful French countryside. The house was immaculatey clean and the air conditioning was big plus.There was a small gite next door but we had total privacy. Our host was on hand to greet us on our arrival and lives a very short distance away, but not intrusive. Great garden for the pooch, who did spend most of his days chilling in the shade of the trees, whilst we relaxed in the sun. What better way to finish off the day than a relaxing time in the hot tub, star gazing! Two weeks of total relaxation. Only problem, I wanted to stay longer. Thanks Serge for a cracking vacation. We stayed at the beautiful restored Pigeonnier for 10 days (3 adults). The detailed review by Daniel, Aug 31/17 describes the place and area well. We loved our stay at the Pigeonnier, everything we needed was there including local art to admire and info about the area. Mr Serge Chaloupy is genuinely nice, helpful and very well informed about the Tarn and Garonne. The market in Valence d'Agen is superb. We loved a little restaurant adjacent to the entrance to the Cloisters in Moissac. We would also recommend the restaurant in Pommevic. Walking to Auvillar takes about an hour and takes you thru the countryside, cycling the canals is another enjoyable thing to do. It seemed to us the best time to enjoy a meal out was to plan for a leisurely lunch between 12 and 2PM, then slowly head home to the Pigeonnier to enjoy the peace and quiet...and maybe a glass of wine or two...And maybe if you are really lucky a visit from Augustin (cat)...This is a place we will always remember and would highly recommend it .Serge, Merci Beaucoup, we wish you and your family well. "Vignes Blanches" is a great place to stay in a wonderful part of rural France. This is real France, not tourist postcard France, and it's much better for it! The property itself is a thoughtfully converted "Pigeonnier", with essentially 3 rooms on 3 levels connected by a spiral staircase. Downstairs is the kitchen/dining room, with utility cupboard and fitted kitchen. Appliances are modern and well-maintained, with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer, electric oven and 2-ring hob. There's also a microwave, kettle and a good coffee machine. On the first floor is the living room, with sofa, coffee table, flat screen TV, stereo and a useful cabinet full of maps, brochures and tourist guides from various local places. The toilet is also on the 1st floor. On the 2nd floor is the main bedroom, with good sized double bed, chest of drawers, and an area to hang clothes. The bathroom, with shower only (no bath), is on the 2nd floor too. On a mezzanine at the top of the house is a small area with a single bed. The house is heated and air-conditioned, which again is well-maintained and works well even in high summer temperatures. There is wi-fi, which works well (but is not especially fast!). Outside you will find several sunloungers and lawn chairs, 2 tables and chairs for outdoor dining, and the hot-tub. There is a lawned area, and a graveled area by the hot-tub. There is plenty of both shady and sunny space. In the barn by the main house you can find BBQs and also bikes which you can borrow. The Canal des Deux Mers is very close by, with it's shady tow-paths and flat, easy biking. There's kayaking and other watersports at St Nicolas de la Grave, at the confluence of the Tarn and Garonne rivers nearby. In the nearby town, Valence, you can find all the local amenities you might need. Market days are Tuesday and Saturday - and this is a proper market, not a tourist market. Also nearby is the town of Moissac with it's abbey and cloisters, the medieval hill-town of Lauzerte, and the cities of Agen, Montauban and Cahors. M. Chaloupy, the owner of the house, is friendly and helpful. He can give recommendations for things to do and local restaurants. (I'd suggest the Auberge des Bardigues, you can find it online). We had a great holiday here in August 2017 and we would certainly recommend it!
