Studio cosy en plein centre historique de Rennes

😊: The accommodation was excellently fitted out and very comfortable. The host was quick to respond and came to the apartment within minutes when I was not sure on the location and how to gain entry.. 😢: Whilst the location in the centre of Rennes SHOULD be excellent, the street is full of buildings being renovated and has an overall ambiance of being RUNDOWN. It is a Medieval street so that should be expected, but this apartment appears to be one of the first few to be refurbished, and the owner has done a great job. When I arrived it was not easy to identify the apartment as there were a number of males standing sheltering and drinking/smoking in the doorway and in the general area of the entrance. I was not intimidated, and I do not think the men posed any threat, but I would caution a lone female of even a number of females that the location may be a bit intimidating. On entering the door from the street, the corridor and stairs are quite dilapidated and run down, continuing a possible sense of caution. The apartment is above a pub and the street is noisy at night. This was pointed out in advance, and earplugs provided [which I used], but nonetheless I was awakened a few times..

😊: The location is just next to the metro station and you can choose a lot of restaurant around. Nightlife below the apartment is really lively at night as it was surrounded by bars. You are centrally located in the old town area and it’s beautiful.lts in the first floor with stairs.. 😢: Nothing.

😊: Frankly I was in no mood to give this property a rating. But since my stay in Dublin right after Rennes, I realise what the accomodation has to offer, so here goes. The space itself is great. For its price, its big enough, well planned/furnished, all amenities, clean and tidy. So thanks! I was in Rennes for work and the most important element for me in such cases is good sleep. With over 13 hrs of work each day, I like to sleep at least 8 hours and this was impossible. The "rue anime" translated in reality is an open Disco with a couple hundred students/tourists, loud music and even louder chatting between 6pm until 1am every night. Since I had to work at 8am, a sleepless and hopeless situation. I use ear plugs while travelling but here it was really useless. I was angry the first night, at myself, for not having looked deeper in the reviews which precisely define this spectacular phenomena. I had desperate exchanges with the nice owner, who did not know how to help, he pointed out that they make no secret of the location. However, the English description on Booking does not mention that this is the ONE most famous/historic street in France with the maximum density of bars (I counted 14) in a distance of hardly 70mts. I googled Rue Saint Michel the first night trying to choke over my anger :-) and found loads of fantastic facts. I tried a different strategy the next 2 nights, rather than sit in my room get angry, I decided to sit out at the bars, thinking of my student years (the late 90s), my dreams then and life now, did some math on life equations, observed happy faces, unaware of what life will throw at them. Went up to my room past midnight, took a shower, got organised for next day, did emails until 1:15 am when finally the noise started to subside. Falling asleep around 2am, thinking my life is not too bad despite challenges..
